SRF Engineering was founded by Mr. Stanley R. Fencel, a mechanical engineer whose career encompasses 45 years of design, testing, and manufacturing experience of electro-mechanical devices. He has designed and/or improved a wide range of industrial machinery, including exercise apparatuses, automatic machine control systems; recorders for aircraft avionics; orbiting spy satellites; California high speed paper voting systems; designed buoy recorders to identify and plot location of Soviet submarine propeller signatures, and patented ultra high speed tape recorder to broadcast in real time down range Polaris and Poseidon intercontinental missiles performance.

Mr. Fencel was the program manager at Emerson Electric for construction of the I B M computer tape backup system for NASA Skylab in 1972.  This system was shut down while in space and remained dormant six years in a hostile space environment and then re-activated on schedule to program a safe destruct entry location in Australia for Sky Lab.

He was also the principal architect of MegaTape’s one Gigabyte tape backup system in 1985. He has also designed exercise equipment, including orchestrating the mechanical design for model 1800 series Unisen’s StarTrac treadmill and Star Stepper.

He has designed medical apparatuses, including a 24-hour EKG Holter monitor for heart monitoring for Del Mar Avionics as well as an EKG treadmill for heart stress evaluation for the first Astronauts under direction of Dr. William Thornton , Father of Space Medicine.

Stan Fencel is also the only human to EVER jog totally submerged underwater without any weights to simulate foot impact exercise in microgravity on a space ship. (See “Space Jogger” on this website  for more information and video).

Other inventions include:

A. World's first and only treadmill rear roller drive with drive internal motor.

B. Extreme speed range conveyor with beyond the norm acceleration / deceleration capability.

C. A mobile, balanced, and automatic adjusting harness apparatus for foot-impact exercise in microgravity.

D. Designed and constructed a machine which provides variable stride exercise for paraplegics.

E. Arthroscopic surgery procedure to replace worn articular cartilage with biodegradable material which is self aligning, and provides long life with chromium steel wear surfaces.

F. A revolutionary and the world's first and only "constant velocity plunging joint" coupling with preloaded zero backlash.

G. Hill Climbers; A Treadmill accessory for increased Cardio Vascular exercise with less foot impact.

H. Proprietary, "QUICK ALERT ALARM" alerts sleepy drivers the exact moment vehicle steering focus is lost to prevent death or serious injuries.

I. Medical first and only Knee Brace which alleviates both Medial and Lateral knee compartmental arthritis to promote articular cartilage replacement with supplements. Potential TKR (total knee replacement) .

In all of the above named inventions, Mr. Fencel was responsible for the mechanical design as well as program management for the majority of the above projects.
