The treadmill described in page Treadmill uses a power roller which has applications beyond exercise equipment. This same design also provides a revolutionary breakthrough for the conveyor industry.
Current motorized conveyor rollers are generally low in torque and are not capable of driving a conveyor belt of significant lengths and widths for the efficient movement of material.
Hence, multi-drive rollers are required in the same conveyor. More torque requires larger motors and, voltages as high as 460 volts, compared to the 115 VAC, 15 amps for our treadmill roller.
Our proprietary motorized power roller installs in a 4.500 inch diameter tube, with a nominal length of 24.00 inches, delivers 630 in. lbs. of torque through a reduction system of 28-1 at a conveyor
belt speed of 134 feet per minute. Gear transmissions commonly in oil-filled rollers, are typically 67% efficient; compared to the 95% efficiency of our belt drive transmission.
Our system employs a brushless D.C. motor and is designed
for frequent start and stop operations and an infinite range of speeds. Clutches, gears and electro-mechanical brakes found in competitive roller drives are not required.
We have designed a conveyor motorized roller retrofit kit to install in existing conveyor systems. One and a half (1.5) semi-skilled man hours are required for installation including control electronics.
Disassembly of the conveyor frame is not required.
Our rear-motorized drive roller treadmill (an industry exclusive) illustrates working hardware.
